Life in Stereo EP.28: Ron Schneider

Ron's musical journey started with a Harmony acoustic guitar at thirteen and a friend teaching him "Louie, Louie." He was hooked. Saving money from cleaning fish tanks, he bought a Harmony bass and never looked back — spending his high school years teaching rock songs to classmates instead of focusing on orchestra pieces. After graduation, Ron dove into Chicago's local rock scene, eventually forming Dr. Bizzaro and the Disgustos — a band blending punk energy with theatrical flair that earned national attention with features in Rolling Stone and Hot Rod magazine. Later, fronting Triple Threat brought him deep into ZZ Top's gritty blues-rock universe, and he saw an opportunity nobody had taken: a truly world-class ZZ Top tribute based in Chicago. In 1992, Ron grew out his beard, embraced the persona, and founded Eliminator. Over thirty years later, he's still at the center of it — and that beard hasn't stopped growing since.
