Meet the General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Geneva
hosco.tv sat down with Lars Wagner, the General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental in Geneva, to chat about his rise through the ranks and his insights on what’s next for luxury hotels. Having worked on 3 continents for some of the most well-known names in hospitality, Lars is a good source of inspiration, and his career is an interesting one to follow. Each step was part of his career plan to become a GM by age 35, and despite missing his target (by just a few years), his persistence got him to where he is today. From his native Germany to North America to Asia and back to Europe, Lars has worked across borders and cultures. He believes that respect for various cultures is paramount, especially when working abroad, but says that some things cross all cultural boundaries, like having a great smile. But his job boils down to his passion. “If you don’t have the passion for the industry, if you don’t have the passion for your customers and for your colleagues, then you’re in the wrong place,” Lars tells us. Watch the video for more insights and find out what Lars sees next for luxury hospitality. To watch more videos visit https://www.hosco.com/en/advice
