Darbuka Lesson: Running Rhythms (intermediate-advanced)
How to play running rhythms on the doumbek! "Running" is a way of playing rhythms that communicates energy, movement, and urgency. It can add excitement to your playing. Your right and left hands alternate to create a very filled-in sound. The play-along sections of this tutorial may be pretty challenging, so I encourage you to listen to the rhythms, pause the video, and use the notation to work out how to play the beat before trying to play along.
