Scattered throughout the city, in homes and mailboxes, are advertisements like these, seemingly handwritten and seemingly on a piece of notebook paper, from a technician named Yuri Lebedev, who promises to fix electrical and plumbing problems quickly and affordably. When you call this number, someone claims to be Yuri Lebedev himself, but for some reason, it's not he who answers the call, but his supposed partner or partners. We assume that Yuri Lebedev doesn't exist at all; he's just a pseudonym for the advertisements. But plumbers operating under this guise simply fleece gullible grandmothers – they perform work and then demand enormous sums for it. For example, replacing a single kitchen faucet cost 27,000 rubles. Another pensioner had a 1.5-meter section of sewer pipe replaced for 45,000 rubles. This is a huge amount for the pensioners – they paid it under intense psychological pressure. And now they have a new victim – replacing a toilet trap for 17,000 rubles.
