Une maison contemporaine à partir du bois d’un ancien hangar au Chili

In this new video, we meet three architects based in Puerto Varas, Chile: Benjamín Lezaeta, Esteban Arteaga, and Emilia Lavanchy. They introduce us to their project, Casa Chave, a contemporary home built using timber reclaimed from an old regional barn. This house is far from ordinary. It is the result of a long process of salvaging native timber from a disused barn located just a few kilometers from the site. From the structural frame and exterior cladding to the custom furniture, as much of the original wood as possible was carefully treated and reused. With its compact form and the thoughtful integration of contemporary elements, the house creates a remarkable dialogue between heritage and modernity, successfully bringing together the old and the new. We are both architects and, unsurprisingly, passionate about architecture. But architecture is not the only passion that brings us together. Since we met, we have taken every opportunity to explore new places and cultures. For us, architecture and travel are above all about emotions. These emotions are at the heart of our stories, our films, and our creations.
