To protest the "Law for Promoting National Solidarity and Progress" that came into effect in China on July 1st, Tibetans in Japan held a rally in front of the Chinese Embassy in Motoazabu, Tokyo, on July 4th, calling for unity to protect the Tibetan language and culture. Regarding the same law, a Tibetan activist in the United States attempted self-immolation in protest and died. Participants offered prayers in remembrance and reiterated their protest against the Chinese government.
