This video is a hiking vlog from February 2026, featuring a couple's trip to Mount Kintoki, one of Japan's 300 Famous Mountains, located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. We started our climb from Kintoki Shrine, a place associated with the Kintaro legend, while visiting various sites related to the mountain. We took a direct express bus from Shinjuku Bus Terminal to Hakone, without any transfers, and began our hike from there. We visited spots related to Kintaro, such as Kintoki Temari Stone, Kintoki Kicking Stone, and Kintoki Yadori Stone, as we made our way to the summit. Along the way, we even met someone who maintains the hiking trails on Mount Kintoki! Talking to them made us realize anew that the hiking trails we usually walk on without thinking are protected by many people. After a steep climb, we reached the summit of Mt. Kintoki, where we enjoyed the mountain's specialty, "Masakari Udon," while gazing at Mt. Fuji peeking through the thick clouds. On our descent, we walked while admiring Owakudani, and enjoyed the beautiful Hakone mountain scenery, including the bamboo-lined trail leading to Mt. Myojingatake, as we headed towards Sengoku. This time, instead of a day trip, we stayed at a Hakone inn after descending. We rested to recover from our climb and prepared for sightseeing in Hakone the next day!
