If you can't find elastic, you can use the following: 2 elastic hair ties Sewing machine Machine thread Fabric scissors Cardstock or paper for printing the pattern {Pattern below this description} Pattern **These are only the materials needed to make the mask. ***Regarding the filters to insert in the mask pocket, you can insert any filter you prefer that also provides the protection you need. The N95 and HEPA 1900 filters I mention in the video are just a suggestion and can only be found online in stores that specialize in selling that type of material. *NOTE: This is NOT a medical-grade mask*. CDC on HOMEMADE CLOTH MASKS: The CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community transmission. The CDC also recommends the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help prevent people who may have the virus and not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings made from household items or homemade with common, low-cost materials can be used as an additional voluntary public health measure. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under 2 years of age, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. The recommended cloth face coverings are not surgical masks or N95 respirators.
