God and the Fine-Tuning of the Universe

Is the universe fine-tuned for life—and if so, what does that tell us? In this video from The Worldview Bulletin, Christopher Reese explores one of the most powerful arguments from science for the existence of God: the fine-tuning of the universe. Many of the universe’s laws, constants, and initial conditions appear to fall within extraordinarily narrow ranges that allow life to exist. The article considers examples from cosmology, physics, and Earth’s life-permitting conditions, then examines possible explanations: physical necessity, chance, multiverse speculation, or design. It argues that the fine-tuning of the universe is not surprising if Christianity is true, but it is deeply surprising on naturalism.
