Druid Arch Hike: Most Hikers Skip This 11 Mile Trail

Most visitors to Canyonlands never make it to the Needles District — and even fewer find Druid Arch. This is the full trail guide to one of Utah's most underrated hikes. The Druid Arch Trail covers 10.8 miles round trip with about 1,900 feet of elevation gain, winding through Elephant Canyon before a steep scramble to one of the most striking rock formations in Canyonlands National Park. No water on the trail and little shade — but the payoff is worth every step. In this video, we hike the entire trail from Elephant Hill Trailhead, covering trail conditions, the scramble section, and where to find the best views. If you're planning a Canyonlands trip or looking for the best hikes in Utah's national parks, this trail belongs on your list. 📋 TRAIL SPECS • Distance: 10.8 miles round trip • Elevation gain: ~1,900 ft • Difficulty: Moderate-Strenuous (final scramble is steep) • Permit: Not Required • Water: None on trail — carry 3L+ minimum • Best season: April–May & September–October • Trailhead: Elephant Hill Trailhead, Needles District 📌 NEED TO KNOW • Approximated 1.5 hours South of Moab • No cell service in the Needles District — download maps offline • Last water fill-up: visitor center • Pack out all trash — this is fragile desert ecosystem ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 — Intro 0:29 — Elephant Hill Trailhead 1:05 — Water PSA 1:58 — First Mile 2:41 — Where is Druid Arch? 3:47 — Elephant Canyon 6:23 — 2 Miles to Go 8:22 — The Scramble 10:32 — Druid Arch Reveal 11:44 — Back to the Trailhead 12:23 — Trail Thoughts & Specs 🙋 ABOUT OPE-A-BEAR We're all about getting outside, spotting wildlife, and exploring the best trails in U.S. National Parks.
