Life moves at a relaxed, "Thai time" rhythm, free from the stresses of city life. There is a strong connection to nature and a focus on living self-sufficiently where possible. Strong community bonds are a hallmark of village life. Neighbors often help each other with farming tasks and during festivals. A completely different world compared to where the majority of expats live and where tourists visit. Do not expect to find touts harassing you, girly bars, KFC, tattoo shops, travel agents, and other assorted horrors that mass tourism attracts. There are accommodations in some rural towns , places to eat, markets to shop, doctors, banks, bus stations, local transport and about everything needed to survive on your own. All that is required of you is the willingness to explore locations few if any foreigners ever visit. This travel channel offers a look at those locations.
