Hello everyone, welcome to a new video. The Location and the Formation Name: The rocks are called Hin Sam Wan (translated: "Three Whale Rock"). Location: They are located in the Phu Sing National Forest (forest reserve) in Bueng Kan Province in northeastern Thailand (Isan). Background: These are not artificial monuments, but sandstone formations approximately 75 million years old. Placed small wooden sticks under overhanging rocks or at special natural landmarks is a common tradition in Thailand with two underlying meanings: Symbolic Support (Merit Making): People believe that by "supporting" the rock with a stick, they symbolically support their own life, health, or happiness. It is meant to bring stability in difficult times. Respect for the Spirits: Many Thais believe that striking natural features are inhabited by nature spirits (Phra Phum). The sticks serve as a small offering or gesture of respect to appease the spirits. If someone says, "Superstition," well, we have that in Germany too: bread and salt, a bridal shoe, throwing coins into wells, chimney sweeps, four-leaf clovers. The main thing is that it works.
