Total travel time: 26 hours and 45 minutes, covering a distance of 1,320 km. The Malaysian leg of the trip features ETS Business Class, complete with spacious seats and in-seat meal and drink service—super comfy! The border crossing takes place at Padang Besar. With a bit of downtime between trains, we explored the shops and facilities around the station. On the Thai side, Hat Yai serves as the key transport hub of the south. The supermarket right in front of the station is perfect for stocking up before the night train. From there, it’s an overnight ride to Bangkok on a retro-style sleeper. It may look old, but with power outlets at every berth, it’s more comfortable than you'd expect!
