Taking Flight | A Trainz Short

Whether it's air, rail, or road, everyone on Sodor is taking flight for an exciting, busy day ahead! Hi all! Here's a video I've been working on for some time to showcase HDRI sky domes for Trainz. Back in December of last year, ⁨‪@thebrainz-tatmar‬ sent me some HDRI skies as he noted how outdated the sky cylinders I previously used were. These new skies are sooo much better and remind me of the ones I used in my old MMD videos. However, they initially didn’t work for me in Trainz 19 until I remade the mesh to be compatible. After this, I was inspired to make a video that utilizes these skies. And when listening to some of ⁨‪@SudrianAfro‬'s music, I figured Taking Flight would be the perfect music piece for this video! Now this is the 5th video to use the skies, but I’ve always intended this to be the “official big debut” of them. As the goal of this video was to take advantage of these big skies that can wrap around almost four baseboards on a Trainz route. This was achieved by making all sorts of wide shots of aircraft, locomotives, etc., with the sky being a big focus. I tried a few new things as a result, like shots of helicopters, planes, and hot air balloons. It's challenging to create such in Trainz, but I’m very pleased with them. I used chroma key and panning techniques for the Creaky Cranky scene remake, tried more details for my new Shen Valley route, bringing back the motion blur effect (albeit more subtle), and other things. I even made my own evening and night skies. (The latter isn’t seen here, though, that’s for another time…) And I plan to release these two soon, so keep an eye out for that. ;) I do apologize for how long this has taken. Life has been really hectic and it’s caused production to slow down. Especially for route making, the Shen Valley route I created for this took way longer than expected due to a combination of life and how difficult it was to get right. However, I greatly appreciate that the channel has been performing so well during all of this time. There've been so many new viewers over these past five months, and I'm floored by all of the support. And recently, we've reached 6,000 subscribers!
