The Power of Love at Farm Sanctuary

Love conquers all. It’s something we see daily at Farm Sanctuary, but we’ve particularly noticed this to be the case in the continued recovery of the scores of animals we rescued four months ago from a Hudson Valley backyard butcher operation. As you recall, we took in the sickest and weakest of the nearly 170 survivors, and for our New York Shelter staff, the days since the rescue have been filled with intensive treatment and rehabilitative care for these animals. But it’s also been an incredibly heart-warming few months. These animals came to us from one of the most horrifying places we’ve ever seen and no doubt suffered at the hands of people. And yet, these same animals are today running to us, greeting us, snuggling in our laps, and pressing their faces softly against ours for kisses. They are coming into their own and expressing themselves and their unique individual needs. One family in particular has emerged as one of the most intriguing we’ve witnessed. Their fight to stay together and journey to recovery has not been without complications.
