Prostate Cancer: What You Need To Know
Guest physician Dr. Peter Incze is a urologist who shares his knowledge about prostate cancer. He talks about early detection, screening, signs, symptoms and treatment. Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the prostate gland, which is a small gland located in the male reproductive system. Prostate cancer typically grows slowly and may not cause any symptoms at first. However, as it progresses, it can cause problems with urination, such as difficulty starting and stopping urine flow, frequent urination, and a weak or interrupted stream. Other symptoms may include blood in the urine, erectile dysfunction, and pain in the back or pelvis. Prostate cancer can be detected through a variety of tests, including a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test, digital rectal exam (DRE), and biopsy. Treatment options for prostate cancer depend on the stage and severity of the cancer, but may include surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy.
