Lou Reed Shuts Down Interview Over Questions on 9/11 and Iraq War (2003)
On 28 May 2003, Lou Reed was interviewed by ITN's Nick Glass, during a sound-check ahead of the last night of his European tour. The main subject of the interview was the upcoming release of "NYC Man", a career-spanning anthology of Reed's work for which Reed himself had remastered nearly three hours of material. He discussed his musical philosophy that three chords was enough, stating proudly that a baby could learn to play Take a Walk on the Wild Side "in ten minutes". The conversation took a turn, however, when Glass chose to ask Reed about his feelings as a New Yorker in the aftermath of 9/11 and, more recently, in the eight weeks since the US invasion of Iraq. #LouReed #VelvetUnderground #TakeAWalkOnTheWildSide #WildSide #NewYork #NewYorkCity #NYC #NYCMan #911 #September11 #September11th #Iraq #IraqWar #Iraq2003 #NewYorker #2003 #PerfectDay #USA #2000s #Nico To license the footage featured in this clip, follow the link below: https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/search/...
