9 de Julio de 1816: La Historia de la Independencia Argentina | Documental | Encuentro
What happened between the May Revolution and the Declaration of Independence? How did the revolution manage to survive amidst wars, political crises, and internal conflicts? We will explore the six years that forever transformed the history of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata. After the creation of the First Junta, the revolution faced some of its most difficult moments: the death of Mariano Moreno, the defeat at Huaqui, the conflicts between centralists and federalists, the formation of the Junta Grande, the First and Second Triumvirates, the Directory, and the intense debates about the future of the new government. In this historical journey, we will meet the protagonists of those decisive years: Manuel Belgrano, José de San Martín, Cornelio Saavedra, Mariano Moreno, Juan José Paso, Gervasio Antonio de Posadas, Carlos María de Alvear, Ignacio Álvarez Thomas, and many other men and women who shaped the course of the revolution. We will relive pivotal events such as the Jujuy Exodus, the battles of Tucumán and Salta, the creation of the flag, the Assembly of the Year XIII, the meeting between San Martín and Belgrano in Yatasto, the birth of the Continental Plan, and the events that led to the Congress of Tucumán. Finally, on July 9, 1816, the delegates gathered at the Casa Histórica in Tucumán declared the independence of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata, ending the political ties with the Spanish Crown and beginning a new chapter in the building of our nation. How did the May Revolution survive? Why was it necessary to declare independence six years later? What roles did Belgrano and San Martín play in that process? This is an excellent resource for students, teachers, and anyone interested in understanding the complex path that led to the birth of the Argentine Republic.
