We Built a Better Version of IKEA's Best Seller

This was the final piece of the bedroom set—the bed and desk were done, and now it was time for this White Oak record stand and bookshelf. We gave ourselves just one week to finish it, but there was a catch: no drawings and no cut list. Just a plan in our heads and a hard deadline. It almost didn't survive that plan. After gluing up the case, we woke up to every woodworker's nightmare—a bow in the sides and a shelf that came up short. We had to recut the miters on a cabinet that was already assembled just to save the project.
