5L40E Teardown

In this video, i teardown a 5 speed RWD caddy transmission called a 5L40E.This trans had no movement hot. There are special tools that are required to install the molded pistons, we will take a look at that next week. some weak points that should be addressed when working on these units are the pressure regulator valve and the Actuator feed limit (AFL) valve. I use Transgo Drop in Reg valve and oversized AFL Valve. Next week we will overhaul the valvebody and address the AFL valve, i Vacuum test it first then ream it for the oversized valve.
