PAPMEM - Julho de 2011 - Equações do 2º Grau

Professional Development Program for High School Mathematics Teachers - July / 2011 Professor Elon - Quadratic Equations The Professional Development Program for High School Mathematics Teachers – PAPMEM – consists of free training for mathematics teachers throughout Brazil. It has been running since 1990, covering topics related to high school education. The program takes place over one week, full-time, from 9 am to 5 pm, independently during the months of January and July, during the school break. Each module of the program is held simultaneously at IMPA and partner institutions throughout the country. We currently have approximately 70 centers and 3,000 participating teachers. At IMPA, we have 150 students per module. Lectures are given in the morning and broadcast live via the internet from IMPA to participating institutions in other states, using the infrastructure of the National Education and Research Network (RNP). In the afternoon, guided studies are conducted under the supervision of professors from each center. This program resulted in a series of books specifically designed for high school teachers, published in the Brazilian Mathematical Society's (SBM) Mathematics Teacher Collection. In another phase, with the support of the CAPES-FAPERJ program, the books entitled The Mathematics of High School – vol. 1, vol. 2 and vol. 3 were produced.
