How British Families Stayed Cool in the 1970s... Without a Single Fan

Summers back in 1970s Britain were just as hot as the past few days in the UK. Except nobody had air conditioning or even a basic electric fan, so you just had to improvise. Your mum would usually lock the house down, shutting every curtain shut by eight in the morning to stop the front room turning into a total oven. The rest of the day was just spent dealing with the heat, using methods that only we knew. A lot of people today don't even think about doing the little techniques when the hot weather comes.
