Leave It To Charlie - starring Peter Sallis (1979)

Sitcom starring David Roper and Peter Sallis. Charlie Fisher is an insurance salesman - young, cheerful, optimistic, and starting a new job in a northern town. For some reason - perhaps because of his air of invincible optimism - Charlie is the sort of person other people depend on, from the little old lady who becomes his landlady, to his gloomy pessimist of a boss Arthur Simister, whose wife is so vague she can't even remember his name. Charlie's dependability leads him into being called on to do anything, and everything, going. This episode: "Do Sit Down, Mrs Foster" - Mrs Foster comes to the offices to claim her money from a surrendered policy, and refuses to move from Mr Simister's chair until she gets all she paid in. This causes some chaos, which Charlie has to sort out in his own inimitable way.
