Ibn ‘Arabî : Conscience symbolique par Pablo Beneito

A lecture on the theme "Symbolic Consciousness" with Pablo Beneito, September 19, 2021. Symbolic Consciousness: A Key to Interpreting the Spiritual Path. Inspired by the thought of Ibn Arabi, this presentation offers a reflection on the nature of the symbol, based on an inclusive vision that we will call "symbolic consciousness," which integrates the various modes of signification, the different languages, manifestations, and perceptions of reality. The experiential journey of symbolic transposition (safar al-iʿtibār) will be addressed from the perspective of transjectivity, the transitivity of symbols, and Poetry as the origin of all articulation and the art of contemplation. Pablo Beneito is currently a professor in the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Murcia. He has edited and translated several works by Ibn Arabi into Spanish, English, and French. Among his works are *Contemplation of the Holy Mysteries*, Anqa Publishing, 2008, and *Secrets of the Names of God*, al-Bouraq, 2010. He is the editor-in-chief of *El Azufre Rojo*, a journal dedicated to Ibn Arabi studies in Spanish, first published in 2014. He is a founding member and president of the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society-Latina (MIAS-Latina), established in 2011. Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi (1165-1240) is the "Great Master" (al-Shaykh al-akbar) of Islamic spirituality and esotericism. From his native Andalusia to Damascus, the final stage of his worldly journey, he traversed all the stations of the Sufi path. Designated as the "Muhammadian Seal of Sainthood"—the universal Seal being, according to Islam, Jesus—he was thus destined to leave behind a written work as dense as it was abundant.
