New Jersey's DEAD SHOPPING MALLS
The malls of New Jersey are dropping like flies, and we're walking through the carnage. From Burlington Center's bronze elephant and roof-caving Phillipsburg, to the zombie corpse that is the Voorhees Town Center, the Monmouth Mall getting "de-malled" into luxury apartments nobody asked for, and the slow, sad death of Livingston. If you grew up here, some of this is going to hurt. If you didn't, welcome. Pull up a chair. We're roasting the developers and asking the hard question: why does every single dead mall get replaced by either a warehouse, a ShopRite, or an "open-air mixed-use lifestyle center" with a Whole Foods and 1,000 apartments you can't afford?
