Julio César Quiñones, a specialist with the Municipal Water and Sanitation Unit (UMAPS), reported that, under current consumption and weather conditions, the La Concepción and Los Laureles reservoirs have the capacity to supply water to the capital only until the end of July. During a news report hosted by Francisco Zúñiga for Noticieros Hoy Mismo, it was detailed that the Concepción reservoir is at 1,141 meters above sea level and Los Laureles at 1,019 meters, levels affected by evaporation due to high temperatures, the control of forest fires, and a May with a minimum rainfall of 4 millimeters. Quiñones announced that the Municipal Government will hold an extraordinary council session in the La Concepción sector to evaluate strategies to address the water shortage affecting 60% of the city. This includes leak inspections, regulation of private well water sources, and pending repairs to the transfer system between the two reservoirs.
