One of the quickest ways to really make an instrument unique, and give it that personal touch, is to apply your own custom decals. This clear and visible indicator will go a long way to help your custom instrument stand out in a crowd. The good news is that the process of applying your own decals doesn’t even have to be very difficult. For this episode, I’m using a special kind of paper (“Waterslide paper”) that is designed to fit into a typical computer printer. Because of that, you can create pretty much whatever your imagination comes up with, and just print it out onto the special paper. From there, each brand has their own specific instructions but generally, after sealing the newly printed images, you’re basically ready to cut them out and apply them to your custom guitar. For me, I’ve decided to apply two different decals. I’ve found a nice, floral embellishment that I’ll apply to the headstock of the guitar, since building a guitar from a kit means you won’t have a manufacturer’s logo there...this will help fill up that space. Additionally, this wouldn’t really be a mini-series here on the Hobby Musician if we didn’t find a way to get our channel logo onto the guitar somehow, so I’ll be applying our circular icon to the back of the guitar body! I’ll talk you through, and show you, all the steps to use this method to apply your own decals to any guitar kits you might decide to build in the future. As always, thanks for watching and play on my friends, play on! Want to check out the items from this video??
