Hidden Speak Easy in Portland, Maine /Street & Co/ Allagash Brewing/Bissell Brothers Brewing Company

After a great day in Freeport, Maine we headed back to Portland for dinner. We had dinner reservations at Street and Company. This cute restaurant is located at 33 Wharf Street. It is a Mediterranean Restaurant that specializes in seafood. We enjoyed some lovely cocktails and great salads but the star of the evening was the grilled octopus. I had never eaten octopus before this trip and probably thought I would be ok with that. But after having it grilled with a little char on it, well it was the best surprise of the trip and a new favorite for me, Mrs. Karnes. We ended our evening in search of a hidden Speak Easy we had learned about on You Tube. I will say it was fun trying to figure out where it was. It wasn't easy either! After some searching we did find it! As a reward we had a few drinks and enjoyed the fun and lively atmosphere! The next morning we were off to adventure and explore more of what Portland had to offer. Our first stop of the day was at Sea Bags. I read about this store and couldn't wait to visit. This store sells all types of bags and purses made from the sails of ships. Mr. Karnes (Me) was sure one of these beautiful bags should sail away home with us and one did! I love my new bag and it is a one of a kind and simply beautiful! Just like this trip has been for us! We next visited Even Tide. This restaurant is known for the unique way they make lobster rolls. Their rolls are steamed bow buns and the lobster is served warm with brown butter. We also had a chance to sample a few other delicious dishes only made in Maine. Be sure and get to this restaurant early and expect to wait in line. Duck Fat was next on our list and we needed to go there today because it is only open certain days. Be sure to check their website to see when they are open and get there early as well. When we got there the line was long and when we finally got to put our name on the list it was a two hour wait to dine there. We decided to place a to go order with a wait time of forty-five minutes instead. i will say the fries we got were worth the wait! Allagash Brewing was the first brewery we visited today. The atmosphere there was very friendly and they had plenty of outdoor seating. The "Take a Bite Out of Maine" food truck is also located at this brewery and we decided to have lunch (like we haven't been eating all morning). This food truck offers a flight of lobster rolls! I had to try those! We sampled their beer, blueberry soda and lobster rolls and then headed to our next stop. Bissoll Brothers Brewing was our final stop. Mr. Karnes really enjoyed this brewery. I'm not sure if it was the great music they played, the beer they brewed or the fact that they root for the Tottenham Football Club, but he did love this place. We had a great time and a wonderful day exploring Portland, Maine! Thank you for watching and please hit that subscribe button and like our video!
