Duane Allman Blue Sky isolated
Isolated lead guitar: Duane. Dickey didn't do dual leads here. This was done by another host--"Digital Split"--but it was taken down. I saved it. Most likely done through Audacity. There's a guy who plays with the Skydog band who can show you the licks on HIS site: http://www.virtualwoodshed.com Tom Dowd started the mixing process for Eat a Peach but had run into overtime and was called to commitments with Crosby, Stills and Nash; longtime Allman friend and colleague Johnny Sandlin took over for the remaining mixes. Sandlin later said of the mixing process, "As I mixed songs like 'Blue Sky,' I knew, of course, that I was listening to the last things that Duane ever played and there was just such a mix of beauty and sadness, knowing there's not going to be any more from him." I knew Johnny Sandlin and was in his home studio enough times--so I'm sorry he's no longer with us. But he would tell you "It's Duane." This is a popular version--and I'll make it available if you want via email: [email protected].
