Paolo Piccolo, 26enne di Napoli morto dopo le botte in carcere: «Così avevano ridotto mio fratello»

Paolo Piccolo, a 26-year-old from Naples, was jailed in 2019 for drug possession and trafficking. After a long period of detention, he was transferred to Bellizzi Irpino prison in September 2024. Paolo was just moments away from being released, settling his accounts with justice, and finally returning to his family and his two children. But on the evening of October 22, 2024, his cell was opened using the keys stolen from the officers by a dozen inmates, all armed with iron bars and knives. Paolo was first beaten in his cell, then dragged out by several inmates, while others continued to beat him with kicks, punches, and metal clubs made from bedposts. After the brutal attack, he fell into a vegetative state from which he never recovered. Paolo passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
