Proverbs 17:28 “Shut Up” | Dominique Reese

Title: Shut Up Scripture: "Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues." — Proverbs 17:28 In this season, stop oversharing the vision God has given you. Not everything God reveals to you is meant to be shared immediately. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment concerning who He wants you to testify to, when to speak, and what to keep between you and Him. It's easy to become excited when God is blessing you or showing you glimpses of what's ahead. But excitement without wisdom can lead to unnecessary opposition. Loose lips are not wise. There is a time to speak, and there is a time to remain silent. Learn to celebrate with God before you celebrate with people. Let Him be the first One you run to. Treasure the secrets He entrusts to you, and allow Him to reveal the right people and the right timing for your testimony. Guard your heart, because the issues of life flow from it (Proverbs 4:23). An unguarded heart can cause you to mistake every opportunity for a God opportunity and every encouraging voice for a God-appointed voice. Not every good thing is a God thing, and sharing too soon can sometimes slow the process of what God is developing in you. There are seasons where God is cultivating, pruning, and preparing. During those seasons, silence is not secrecy—it is stewardship. Pray for wisdom. Pray for discernment. Both are necessary if you desire to walk in obedience and protect what God has entrusted to you.
