"Moon Tree" (2026 Spring Arts Festival)

The capstone event of the 2026 TASIS Spring Arts Festival, this fourth annual performing arts showcase was held in the TASIS Palestra on the afternoon of May 16 and featured more than 200 talented students from all three TASIS divisions, with performances from orchestras, choirs, instrumentalists, theater groups, bands, dancers, and soloists. Guided by Director of Performing Arts Erika Cramp and a dedicated team of performing arts teachers, students from the TASIS Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Faculty performed beautifully in the showcase, which included more than 30 songs spread out over five fast-paced acts, sound clips from TASIS students and Radiolab’s Terrestrial podcast, video footage from NASA and Apollo 13 with sound clips from the Apollo 14 mission, and a special video message from planetary scientist Dave Williams. "Moon Tree" tells the extraordinary true story of the Apollo 14 mission through a vibrant fusion of acting, dance, and music. The performance follows astronaut Stuart Roosa, who carried hundreds of tree seeds into lunar orbit, honoring his history as a forest smokejumper while venturing into the deep unknown. By tracing the journey of these seeds from the launchpad to the moon and back to the Earth’s soil, the show explores the profound connection between human exploration and the natural world. It is a celebration of resilience and legacy, depicting how these "Moon Trees" grew from cosmic travelers into living monuments that still stand across our planet today.
