Paolo Avenati - Tell me my story. MELAS - living with mitochondrial disease
This film follows the life of Paolo Avenati and his battle with MELAS (Mitochondrial Myopathy, Encephalopathy, Lactic Acidosis and Stroke-Like Episodes (MELAS) 3243 A>G mutation) told via his own words and those of his Mother and carer Loretta, along with the medical professionals fighting the disease. Paolo was a great lover of art, literature, music and especially film. Paolo had big dreams and plans for his future and he tried so hard to achieve them. One day, out of the blue, he experienced sudden illness from which he appeared to recuperate, only to suffer a stroke like event six months later. So sudden and life changing was this event, that he decided to create a documentary to help raise awareness of this very rare disease, for which there is no cure. Eight years later, after following his decline, it was time to finish telling his story... #MELAS #Livingwithmelas #mitochondrialdisease #mitochondrialdisorder Learn more about MELAS: https://www.newcastle-mitochondria.co... https://directory.libsyn.com/episode/...
