PICTURES DON'T LIE by Katherine MacLean

Seeking signals from the other side of the Iron Curtain, a radio decoder for the American military picks up something much more interesting from above: communication from non-human intelligent life. A method of basic understanding is established between them called Squawking, but something doesn't feel right when imagery gets involved in their mutual transmissions... Originally published in the August 1951 issue of Galaxy magazine, which re-published it in their French issue in January 1955 and Swedish version in January 1959. It also appeared in the July 1963 issue of a Japanese magazine simply called SF. Among its seemingly endless inclusions in anthologies over the years are: Invaders of Earth in 1952, Enemies in Space in 1962, and Science-Fiction-Stories 69 in 1977. It was included in two collections of the author's stories: The Diploids and Other Flights of Fancy in 1962, and The 29th Golden Age of Science Fiction Megapack in 2016. Read by Darrell T.
