Dual Ring Jet Stove Game Changer

In this video I experiment with a new concept in Alcohol Stove modification specifically for Dual Ring Jet Stoves. They are designed to boil water quicker than a Trangia Stove, which is fantastic. The big drawback is that once they are lit there is no way to control the flame. Once lit under a small pot the alcohol burns at such a rate that a lot of the heat is wasted when used with smaller pots. Basicially the flame pattern spread is to wide as the heat spreads out and rises up the sides of the pot. Chances are like me you have grabbed your small pot or cup by the handles only to realise they are scalding hot. Nobody likes burnt skin lines lol. I have used a Trangia simmer ring before and the works ok but not ideal. With the dual jet burner stove it is possible to place a pot directly on top. This neutralises the top row of flame allowing a more gentler fuel efficient burn and increase burn times. Great in theory but really unstable. One nudge or gust of wind on uneven ground and the thing tips over. Very dangerous indeed. The way I use this style of stove is to place it in a pot support but the problem of flame spread and uncontrollability is still an issue.
