Abby is 16 and lives with her mum Lara, sister Paige and eight month old son Riley. At Abby’s 20 week scan doctors advised Abby to terminate the pregnancy, as there was an 80% chance that her baby would be severely disabled. She carried on with the pregnancy but when Riley was born he was not breathing. Doctors found a cyst on his brain as well as enlarged brain cavities – both can be life threatening. Riley pulled through and now Abby is struggling to juggle being a young mother to a child with disabilities as well as completing 13 GCSE exams.
