A significant milestone has been reached in the Buca Metro project, which is being constructed by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality using its own resources and represents the largest single investment in Izmir's history with a budget of 765 million Euros. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), progressing from Çamlıkule towards Üçyol, encountered the light at the end of the tunnel at Şirinyer Station. This completes approximately 20 kilometers of tunnel excavation. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay stated that the work is progressing as planned and that the line could be put into service in two stages.
