EP.6 Fishing at a Ruined Guesthouse — On the Doorstep of the Gods | Season 1 Tsushima Fishing There was a guesthouse that first led me to fishing in Tsushima. Now quietly crumbling away — that place is where this story begins. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the owner of Paradise Guesthouse in Toyotama for their kind support with filming. Though I didn't explain it in the video, the place name Toyotama, and the deity enshrined at Kaijin Shrine, both trace back to Princess Toyotama — who came from across the sea. Toyotama (豊玉) means "precious jewel princess" — and I can't help but wonder if those precious jewels are the very glass beads and comma-shaped jade that appear so abundantly in the ancient remains of Silla and Gaya. The more I fish on this island, the more I find traces of our history. History draws its lines. Politics takes its sides. But the things that crossed the sea leave their mark in silence. This story is built on the imagination of a fisher who knows little of history — so please, just enjoy it for what it is.
