For diagnostics and repairs We brought in a third-generation Lexus RX350. The reason for the call was the CHECK AWD SYSTEM message on the instrument panel, the all-wheel drive won't engage, and the differential lock button doesn't respond. Diagnostics using a professional multi-brand scanner, Launch x431 pro 3S, or similar (Launch, Ediag, Kingbolen, Diagzon, Thinkdiag, Thinkcar, Thinkscan, Mucar) revealed a single error in the all-wheel drive control unit: C1298, a linear solenoid valve error not detected, and an open circuit. This indicates a problem with the solenoid, or in other words, with the electromagnetic clutch in the rear axle: a broken wire, poor contact, or a malfunction of the clutch itself, as well as the all-wheel drive control unit. What should the clutch resistance be? Where and what connectors need to be checked? Where is the 4WD fuse? Other diagnostic checks. The entire all-wheel drive control circuit was monitored and a problem with the 4WD ECU connector was found. After repairing it, the car started working normally, all errors were cleared, and the system worked as it should.
