On today’s show Sukhi will be joined by Balvinder Sopal who is a British actress from a Punjabi background. She graduated in 2001 from the University of Huddersfield with a degree in Theatre studies with Media. Since graduating Balvinder has worked with several award-winning theatre companies nationally and internationally. Her career spans theatre, radio, film and television. She recently appeared on ‘Call the Midwife’ in a lead guest role which saw her play the part of Mrs Ganni - who puts all her energies into building a business together with her husband. It becomes their baby and the thread that keeps her connected to her husband. Until, of course, the unexpected arrival of her cousin which threatens to upset the harmony of her marriage and forces her to face up to the harsh reality of never being able to experience motherhood herself. Balvinder continues to appear on many popular TV shows in various guises; guest lead in Doctors, Hollyoaks, Coronation Street as one of their intermittent coppers and Emmerdale as the shows only Hijab wearing DC. Her TV credits also include BATFA Award Winning White Girl (BBC1), Adha Cup (Channel 4) Waterloo Road.
