According to the Clinical Guide for Oppositional Defiant Disorder, published by the Ramón de la Fuente National Institute of Psychiatry: "The disorder seems to bother those around the child more than the child or adolescent experiencing it. They may have problems in their relationships with friends and may perceive relationships as unsatisfactory." And although it is considered a less severe form of behavioral disorder, this does not mean that it does not cause dysfunction in the child's life.
