Alsina: "Sin saber cuándo saltará la noticia de que han imputado o detenido a otro de tus afines"

The host of Más de uno discusses Sánchez's reaction to the latest charges affecting the PSOE and the government. #psoe #spain https://www.ondacero.es/programas/mas... Let me tell you a story, a very short one, you'll see. Today's story is fictional. Completely. At nine o'clock on Monday morning, the president gathered his closest confidants, a group that was dwindling and all of them men. He asked them, “What do we have this week?” “NATO!” blurted out the most talkative, knowing that the president was aware he would be traveling to Ankara on Tuesday to have his colleagues nag him again about defense spending. “Yes, I know that,” the president said curtly, “but I mean the other thing, what do we have this week?” “Today it’s the finance minister’s mess, he’s got the regional councilors nagging him about the deficit target, you know, the same old thing,” said the more thoughtful aide, “we’re still going ahead with the budget, right?” The president remained silent, as if he were already in Ankara or even further away. The aide persisted: “We’re still going ahead with the budget, right?” The president looked at him: “Yes, of course we are, when September comes I’ll see what we do. But stop telling me what I already know.” His expression hardened, and his aides feared an outburst of anger, something they had already experienced so many times. "So, what's on the agenda this week?" the president snapped. "Stop beating around the bush. What do you know this week? Don't look so clueless, speak plainly. Who are they going to indict this week?" "It's hard to say, Mr. President," ventured the most veteran aide. "Everyone at SEPI has already been indicted; in the Civil Guard, the Secretary of State is above the director, but I don't think so; and in the party..." "In the party, what?" "Well, the party manager has already been indicted, and it's possible they'll indict all of us. As a party, of course, you know Judge Pedraz is out for us." "Everyone's out for us!" the president exploded. "Start thinking about how we're going to convince our people that even if they indict the party, it won't affect their secretary general at all." The party is one thing, and its general secretary is another; what one does doesn't necessarily mean the other knows. "Come on, let's get to work, because I have to save the country from the right wing." He doesn't want it, but he anticipates it. Page, the man, is devastated by the succession of scandals affecting Ferraz (the party headquarters) and yesterday, in short socks, recounted that the gifts he receives are local wine and cheese, and that he suffers greatly because he doesn't drink. Society, in the polls and in Parliament, is telling the president to call elections. He knows it, his hardliners know it, his more moderate supporters know it, and his most devoted propagandists know it. And knowing this, the president exercises his authority, which is his power, and refuses to heed the clamor of those he governs. It's legal for him to do so; he has the right to do it, but it would be good if he expressly admitted what he's doing: knowing that society wants elections, he's keeping them locked away, waiting for a secular miracle. In other words, for personal and party interests, not for the country's. Understanding the decisions helps to call them what they are. "Who will they indict us on this week? Tell me." In the fictional story I told you earlier, the president, when his aides, in a hurry, hurriedly leave his office, says to them, raising his voice: "It's the eclipse, isn't it?!" "What did you say, Mr. President?" "That the eclipse is what most interests Spaniards, it's what everyone is talking about, Tezanos told me." The most talkative aide manages to make a joke: "Well, it seems to me they're talking more about Zapatero's jewelry, no offense, Mr. President." The leader flies into a rage: "But whose side are you on, you traitor?" "Me, always with the sun king, Mr. President, that is, with you, you are the star that illuminates my every step." And lowering his head slightly, he finishes leaving the office wondering if the analogy with the sun king is the most appropriate now that the president is spending the weekend giving advice on TikTok about how to enjoy the most announced, awaited and desired solar eclipse in history.
