The lack of civilization, or rather callousness – in its various forms – is one of the strengths of society. Yesterday, today, tomorrow. What changes are only the forms of public manifestation of callousness. And, perhaps, the number of individuals with a behavior that has nothing in common even with the ABCs of civilization. They are part of the daily picture, which makes us jump. We rejoice, we feel avenged when the typologies of callousness are shown to the public. 20 years ago, a volume appeared on the Romanian book market that announced from the title that it would call things by name: “The Guide to the Callous”. Author: Radu Paraschivescu, a successful writer – he published almost 40 volumes, most of them bestsellers – but also a very good and prolific translator.
