Purifying DNA from an Agarose Gel
Gel purification allows you to isolate and purify DNA fragments based on size. Following gel electrophoresis, you can cut DNA bands out of the agarose gel and purify the DNA samples. This is a commonly used technique for molecular cloning, such as PCR- or restriction enzyme-based cloning. https://www.addgene.org/protocols/gel... In this video we will show you how to excise a DNA band from an agarose gel. This protocol begins after our DNA has been prepared and separated using agarose gel electrophoresis. To learn more about how we did this, please see our Agarose Gel Electrophoresis protocol video, or check out our written protocol: https://www.addgene.org/protocols/gel... __________________________________________________________________________________ 0:00 Intro 0:22 Materials 0:40 1:16 Visualizing the Bands 2:10 Removing the Band of Choice 2:56 Purifying the DNA
