EMOTIONAL MOMENTS AS FAMILIES COLLECT BODIES OF KISUMU CRUSH VICTIMS FOR BURIAL

Emotions ran high at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary as families collected the bodies of their loved ones for burial in Nyakach following a fatal crush that left 27 members of a clan dead as they were returning from a relative's funeral in Nyahera, Kisumu county. The teary and heartbreaking moment saw 22 bodies collected for burial tomorrow where a joint funeral service is expected to be conducted in Naki primary school. Thereafter, each family will carry their loved ones to their final resting places marking it one of the darkest day in Juma's clan history in Nyakach. The Funeral Committee chairman Vincent Odera is still appealing to members of the public for support but has however, stated that politics will not be allowed during the burial ceremony of the victims. The accident which took place at Coptic roundabout along Kisumu Kakamega highway left 26 survivors who are still nursing injuries in various hospitals in Kisumu and has been marked as one of the deadliest accident in the region's history.
