I STOOD INSIDE HO CHI MINH'S CHILDHOOD BEDROOM ( VINH CITY VIETNAM)

I traveled just outside of Vinh City to Nghệ An province to visit Kim Liên commune—the birthplace and childhood home of Ho Chi Minh. Walking through these preserved villages felt like stepping back in time. In this video, we trace his roots from both his mother's side in Hoàng Trù Village (where he was born in 1890) to his father's side in Làng Sen (Lotus Village). The most surreal part of the journey was stepping inside the 5-room paternal home built in 1901. I got to stand inches away from the actual low wooden table where he studied classical literature and listened to anti-colonial patriots debate, and the exact, narrow wooden platform bed where he slept as a teenager. Seeing the sheer simplicity and minimalism of how one of the 20th century's most influential figures grew up is a striking contrast to the history he left behind. What makes it even more incredible is learning how the local villagers hid and protected these original pieces of furniture through decades of war so they could be preserved today.
