20. CatchmentCare: an evidence based approach to restore river habitats -Sarah McClean Loughs Agency
The EPA Water Conference 2024 took place on 12 and 13 June, in Galway and online. Speakers shared their knowledge on how to protect & improve water quality in Ireland and showcased case studies from around Ireland. Speakers: Dr Sarah McLean, Head of Science, Loughs Agency Sarah is responsible for leading on all of the Loughs Agency’s scientific delivery in order to provide robust evidence bases to inform environmental management and policy decisions in the Foyle and Carlingford Catchments. Sarah joined Loughs Agency in 2011 firstly as the Senior Aquaculture and Shellfisheries Officer, then as the Senior Scientist and was appointed as Head of Science in 2021. Sarah is a graduate of Queen’s University Belfast where she completed both her undergraduate Honours Degree in Zoology and her PhD. in invasive species management in relation to fisheries. Sarah’s research interests are in invasive species, applied fisheries science and aquatic habitat restoration.
