HARROGATE PARISH #50: BOROUGHBRIDGE Boroughbridge – “Fort Bridge” Next up in the Harrogate series we have Boroughbridge – the small town that we’ve been talking so much about over the past few episodes. Borougbridge was an important staging post on the Great North Road. Although it’s the main settlement with the parish of the same name, Boroughbridge’s historical importance is second to the village just East of the town. That would be Aldborough - a principal settlement during the Roman period, once known as Isurium Brigantum.
