The Man Who Quit On His Stool Against Mike Tyson

On October 20, 2000, two of the most unpredictable heavyweights in boxing history finally collided when Mike Tyson faced Andrew Golota in the highly anticipated "Showdown in Motown." Fans expected an all-out war but what happened shocked the entire boxing world. From the opening bell, Tyson came forward with his trademark aggression, landing thunderous punches and scoring a first-round knockdown. Golota survived the round, but the punishment had already taken its toll. After just two brutal rounds, he refused to continue, leaving fans stunned as Tyson was declared the winner although the result was later changed to a no contest after Tyson tested positive for marijuana. Golota was later diagnosed with a concussion, a fractured left cheekbone, and a herniated disc, helping explain why he chose not to continue despite criticism from fans at the time.
