UEC++ From Basics to Advanced | M26-004: Build Standalone Program Loop Framework

This video implements the FEngineLoop-based application loop for the XGSampleServer. The standalone server program needs a robust main loop that handles socket polling, request processing, and graceful shutdown without a game world or renderer. The implementation covers setting up FEngineLoop with server-appropriate initialization parameters, configuring the tick loop to poll for incoming connections at a controlled rate, integrating socket accept and read operations into the loop's MainTick, and implementing a clean shutdown sequence that closes all sockets and releases memory when the process receives a termination signal. With this loop framework in place, the server runs as a proper standalone UE program. The loop's predictable tick rate ensures that network operations do not consume unnecessary CPU while maintaining responsive request handling.
